Weaning
Be prepared for a lot of mess!
Always have a pack of wet wipes or a wet flannel at the ready! |
 |
|
If you
are making your own food for your babies, you will probably be using
ice cube trays to freeze your food as puree. When your babies are
eating large numbers of ice cubes in each meal, it is easier to freeze
meals in a baking tray (the cupcake type) then you only need one or
two per meal. You can freeze all sorts of food this way even when they
are not eating mush anymore eg spaghetti bolognaise, cauliflower
cheese, macaroni cheese etc.
Do not feel frustrated if your babies refuse food that you have spent
hours preparing – simply smile and say “never mind”!!!!!!

Toddlers
When there is only one swing at the park (or one swing free), put
both babies in the same swing back to back. They wedge each other in
quite nicely and there is less room for them to lean forward/backward
and tip the swing. |

If you want to take a football to
the park but you don't have enough hands to carry it (plus two
children), zip it into your coat. People will give you very
sympathetic looks as it looks like you are pregnant!
When trying to
get two children into a their (second stage) car seats safely when you
are in a dangerous place eg car park, open the car door and let one
child climb into the foot well (they normally then climb on the seat
or into the front!) then you are free to put the second child in the
car seat without the risk of them running off.
Let the twins have their own one-to-one moments with you. It's good
for them to be away from each other for a while as well.

Most Importantly
Take time for yourself. Sit with your feet up and have a cup of
tea, or go out for a meal occasionally with a friend. Life will be
frantic, but these quiet moments are important for you to recharge
your batteries. You will be a better and happier parent if you do!
