Holy Trinity Church, Ramleaze Drive, Shaw,
West Swindon, SN5 5PY !
There is free car parking outside the church and there is also additional car parking via the road to the rear of the shops. Tesco Express and Lloyds Pharmacy are right next door to the church - handy for those essential items.
As usual the entrance fee of £2.50 includes tea or
coffee for the adults, drinks and biscuits for the little ones.
Craft corner will be offering painting, making masks etc.
Shaw Church offers a large enclosed safe environment for young ones
to ride tricycles, run about and generally let off steam.
We will also be offering cakes for sale (money towards STORM funds)
and some may even be home baked! So,
if you haven’t been to Shaw Church before why not pop in for a cup of tea
and a chat.
New Chair of STORM
-Suzanne Howard
This is my first newsletter as the new chair of
STORM. I took over from Sarah
at the beginning of the year and I am very excited at the prospect
building on the good work of Sarah and previous chairs.
I really believe that STORM has a lot to offer parents and carers
of twins or triplets or more and I look forward to expanding our
membership and, as ever, the challenge of raising much needed funds.
The committee and I have already
made an excellent start on putting together a programme of events over the
coming months with the aim of having lots of fun and of course raising
money for STORM at the same time. So,
keep an eye on the STORM website for forthcoming events.
I first attended STORM when I was seven months
pregnant and found the thought of coping with two babies at once a
daunting prospect. The members
at the twins group made me feel very welcome and gave me lots of practical
advice and seeing how other people coped with twins of varying ages from
newborn to active toddlers gave me the confidence to believe I would cope
also when my twins eventually arrived. I
have twin girls Hannah and Emily who are now fifteen months old and life
is very busy but wonderfully rewarding.

Summer “Teddy Bears’ Picnic”…The theme of this year’s summer picnic is all about Bears – teddy bears, polar bears, koala bears, Rupert, Pooh, Paddington and others. The picnic will take place on Saturday 1st August 11.00 - 2:00 at Lydiard Park INDOORS (See Hot News & Forthcoming Events for further details)
Terry Ferris
Terry will be available to take portrait photographs Monday 17th August 10:00 – 12:00 at Shaw Church*. This is an excellent opportunity to include older siblings or even grandparents in a group family portrait. The portrait pack is fantastic value at £23 and contains 10 photographs: 2@10”x8”, 2@8”x6”, 2@5”x4”, 2@3.75”x3” and 2@2”x2.5”. Extra prints, key rings and fridge magnets are also available. Proofs will be available to view before ordering and payment is on collection.
Pottery
Q Ceramics will be holding a pottery painting workshop on Monday 10th August 10:00 – 12:00 at Shaw Church*. Unglazed mugs, plates, tiles, cookie jars etc are decorated using paint brushes or sponges. Babies and young children can still join in by using painted hands or feet prints instead. Alternatively, why not try a clay impression of a hand and foot. All items are then glazed and fired in a furnace to make items useable. Prices start from £9.50 and 10% of sales go towards STORM funds. These make excellent mementos or unique presents. Collection is one week later from STORM or Q Ceramics at Blooms Garden Centre, J16 of M4.
STORM Information LibraryWe have an information library using booklets that we have received from TAMBA- subjects include breastfeeding, pushchairs to age related guides. If you are interested why not ask on a Monday or call/email STORM. Memberships - We’re worth it! Don't forget to renew your membership. There is more to STORM than just the Monday sessions. Being a member of STORM entitles you to some great discounts. We have now managed to obtain an extra 10% off at the Outlet Centre in a large variety of their shops (including Clarks and the toy shops) upon production of the membership card at the reception or in the actual shop. Check out our website for details of the latest discounts. www.swindontwinsormore.org.uk STORM Committee…STORM has a committee who arrange seasonal events like the Christmas party and summer picnic, plus the craft activities, drinks and snacks on Monday’s. We are still in need of more Mum’s (or Dad’s) to join our team. We meet for a couple of hours every 4-6weeks for a chat over a cup of coffee. Please help support STORM and keep us running by joining the committee. STORM is generally self-running, but for us to offer members the benefits of the website, hospital support, craft activities and parties we need some help. Don’t Forget… All of the above details and more are on our website, so please keep up to date over the coming months by logging on to www.swindontwinsormore.org.uk Your Views.. Is there something we are not doing? Is there something you would like to see at STORM. We would love to hear your views, ideas and feedback! Please share it with us- drop us a line via- email, text, letter or in person-
